Mindbloom Inspires Happiness with New MOMENTUM App for iOS, Android and Windows

Gamified hot-air balloon uses inspirational moments and photos to inspire a digital journey to keep users “afloat” and happy in their everyday lives

Seattle, WA, December 18, 2013 – Interactive wellness company Mindbloom (www.mindbloom.com) today announced MOMENTUM, a new happiness achievement app for iOS, Android and Windows. Integrating the latest advances in positive psychology, behavioral research and mobile gaming techniques, MOMENTUM turns the quest for happiness into a private, fun and personal life game that uses the metaphor of a hot air balloon experience to help users take stock in positive moments. Users launch and fuel their personalized airship by capturing small successes, happy times, hopes and dreams, and even those quiet reflections that might otherwise go unnoticed in today’s fast-paced world.

“Research published by the University of Pennsylvania’s Positive Psychology program and others like it, show that when people take time to focus on gratitude and the positive aspects of their days, their sense of wellbeing and happiness is improved measurably,” said Brent Poole, CEO and co-founder of Mindbloom. “With MOMENTUM, users can deliberately capture simple pleasures to stir levity and micro-moments of joy, all adding up to an improved mood and authentic happiness.”

Who Needs Hot Air When Life’s Small Moments Can Fuel Happiness

MOMENTUM uses photos and personalized notes as fuel to keep the games’ zepplin afloat and to encourage celebration of the positive. Users are asked take photos, use existing photos or write notes and then record the moment as Happy, Victory, Reflective, Kindness or Thankful. The capturing of these small moments, such as a smile from a stranger, the pleasure of cooking dinner with your family to big achievements like finishing a work project, inspires people to quietly reflect and appreciate positive moments. As positive moments are captured, or not, throughout the digital journey, the balloon will lift or fall. Once the balloon is aloft and happily drifting, the sky is occasionally peppered with whirling propellers presenting inspirational mini-challenges. For example, challenges include suggestions like “Stand up and do a full stretch!” or “One thing I’m grateful for is….”Upon completion of challenges, fuel is added to the balloon, keeping it underway and earning the user tickets that can be spent to customize their airship.  MOMENTUM sends the user reminders through out the day to capture those positive moments. Completed journeys are celebrated with fan fair and fireworks and the user is soon prompted by a push notification to start their next journey.

MOMENTUM is the latest in a series of consumer mHealth apps produced by Mindbloom in collaboration wit Vivacity, a national leader in wellness solutions.  Mindbloom and Vivacity have delivered a series of multi-platform mobile applications, including the energy tracking app JUICE and the group challenge app Proof that facilitate positive behavior change through games, challenges, reminders and resources that help make the process of getting healthier simple, fun and effective.

“MOMENTUM – The Journey” is available FREE for iOS, Android and Windows.
