  • History of elevated intraocular or intracranial pressure

Ketamine has been reported to produce issues including, but not limited to, those listed below. However, lasting adverse side-effects are rare when medical protocols are carefully followed.

While ketamine has not been shown to be physically addictive, it has been shown to cause moderate psychological dependency in some recreational users.

  • In rare cases, frequent, heavy users have reported increased frequency of urination, urinary incontinence, pain urinating, passing blood in the urine, or reduced bladder size
  • Ketamine may worsen problems in people with schizophrenia, severe personality disorders, or other serious mental disorders.
  • Users with a personal or family history of psychosis should be cautious using any psychoactive substance, including ketamine, and discuss potential risks with your MindBloom® clinician before proceeding with treatment.
  • The dissociative effects of ketamine may increase patient vulnerability and the risk of accidents.

To promote positive outcomes and ensure safety, follow these ketamine treatment guidelines:

  • Do not operate a vehicle (e.g., car, motorcycle, bicycle) or heavy machinery following treatment until you’ve had a full night of sleep
  • Refrain from taking benzodiazepines or stimulants for 24 hours prior to treatment
  • Continue to take antihypertensive medication as prescribed
  • Avoid hangovers or alcohol intake
  • Refrain from consuming solid foods within 3 hours prior to treatment and liquids within 1 hour prior to treatment
  • Ketamine treatment should never be conducted without a monitor present to ensure your safety

Why Psychedelic Therapy?

Conventional mental health medications can take weeks or even months to become effective. Ketamine’s benefits often begin to appear within hours, and clinical trials with ketamine have shown peak mood elevation about 24-36 hours after treatment. ‏ Ketamine is the first clinician-prescribed psychedelic treatment prescribed by doctors to help relieve depression, anxiety, chronic pain, PTSD, OCD, and other mental health-related conditions.

What is Mindbloom®?

Mindbloom® is a mental health and wellbeing company on a mission to transform lives today to transform the world tomorrow. We're increasing access to effective, science-backed treatments for anxiety and depression, starting with guided ketamine therapy in both comfortable, elevated spaces and at-home. Mindbloom® partners with licensed psychiatric clinicians to help their clients get the most out of treatment through technology, content, and hospitality-inspired client experiences.

How do virtual sessions work?

Your first two at-home sessions in your first Mindbloom® program, The Basics: Psychedelic Therapy with Dr. Paleos, are “hands-on.” We’ll begin each session over video helping you set intentions, craft an expansive mindset and optimal physical setting, and easing you into the experience. After your sessions, you’ll spend about 30 minutes journaling and reflecting on your experience. Then, your Mindbloom® Guide will join you on video to help you process and make sense of your experiences and set you up for integrating your experiences to create lasting behavioral changes in the weeks ahead.

Is this covered by insurance?

We do not take insurance at this time. If your insurance company provides out-of-network reimbursement, we can provide you with a detailed superbill (aka receipt). You can then work with your insurance company to get reimbursed for a portion of Mindbloom®’s treatment.

What will it feel like

Ketamine produces a sense of disconnection from one’s ordinary reality and usual self that may induce or enhance feelings of creativity, purpose, perspective, serenity, insight, inspiration, gratitude, empathy, connection with others and the world, openness to new ideas, psychological rebirth, and traveling outside of one’s self, among others. You may also experience visual, auditory, and other sensory effects. Please review the safety info on our website for more information about the potential side effects of ketamine.
